Rapid Cognitive Processing is a psychological intervention to support the resolution of disturbing emotional outlooks and associated feelings. Its aim is to stimulate eye movements (although other stimuli can be used) to facilitate traumatic and emotive healing. This is generated through the link between rapid eye movement and the brain’s neural pathways and can relieve even deep-rooted concerns within a few sessions. RCP takes its origins from eye movement therapies but adds NLP, eye accessing cues and certain cognitive therapeutic elements to it.

RCP, Rapid Cognitive Processing, was created by Robert Russell PhD in 1998 and is an amalgam of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing) and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming).  Robert has been a multi-discipline mind therapist since 1991. He was within the first cohort of UK psychotherapists to be trained in EMDR by its originator, Francine Shapiro, in 1994. He soon realised that blending certain NLP concepts with EMDR provided a more effective therapeutic medium for his clients. In doing so, he devised a successful protocol for RCP.

You can learn this intervention within our 2-day course to enhance your existing wellbeing practice. This course has a substantial supervised practical application content to ensure participants are fully competent in client delivery.

This training course is held by Joanne Britton, DHP,GQHP,MNCH,Dip.NLP, Dip.RCP, Dip.EFT,IEMT who was trained in Hypnotherapy and RCP by Robert Russell.  Joanne also teaches our one year GHR accredited Hypnotherapy Practitioner Training course.

In order to undertake this course, you need to have prior qualifications and experience from a recognised talk therapy discipline - eg hypnotherapy, NLP, CBT, counselling  – if unsure, please enquire on the suitability of your specialist field.

RCP 2-Day CPD Course Structure

Day 1

Theory (Morning)

• Introduction to RCP
• RCP Framework
• SUD and VOC scales
• Selecting Appropriate Emotional Targets
• Cautions and Contraindications
• Eye Movements and Eye Accessing Cues
• Alternative Saccadic Stimuli
• The RCP Process and its Application to Traumas (PTSD), Phobias & Anxiety
• Moving beyond Stuck Progress
• Body Scan and Eliminating any Residual Emotional Charge arising from Session
• Debriefing
• On-going Sessions

Practical (Afternoon)

• Time to practice and develop your skills in utilising this process
• Role-play, alternating between therapist and client

 Day 2

Theory (Early-Morning)

• Any questions from previous day’s work
• Recap and Refresh from Day 1
• RCP & Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
• RCP & Stress Management
• RCP & Smoking Cessation
• RCP & Weight Loss
• RCP & Blocked Emotional Issues
• RCP & Other Issues eg. Anger, Addictions, Insomnia etc – Class input & practical

Practical (Mid-Morning & Afternoon)

• Further practice and development of your skills in utilising this process
• Role-play, alternating between therapist and client

This course is accredited by NICP, National Institute of Cognitive Psychology and IPHM, International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine.

Once you have successfully completed this course you will receive a Diploma Certificate in RCP. You will also be given a complimentary first year’s membership of the National Institute of Cognitive Psychology (NICP).

Fees :

The cost of this 2-day course, which is provided from 9.30am – 5pm each day is £295. Members of the NCH, GHR and NICP, as well as those who have previously undertaken courses with Training Alliance Group or who have studied Hypnotherapy with Joanne Britton here at the Academy, will receive a £50 discount bringing the course fee to £245.
